I am the Department Head of English at St. Marys DCVI. I have a huge interest in the use of technology in the classroom and collaborative learning. As a result I have the most interesting classroom in my school. There are no individual desks; instead there are tables for group collaboration. I have also made great strides in moving towards a paperless classroom, but first I need to improve my technological intelligence and the school needs to increase the technology available. Thankfully I have a principal who is interested in technology in the classroom, but unfortunately, technology costs a great deal of money.
I am hoping that with the time I spend involved with PLP I will learn some new ways to incorporate technology in the classroom in ways that differ from standard pen and paper tasks and find new ways for students to collaborate on the learning they are involved in. By the end of this process I hope that I am a facilitator.
